About Fuel Efficiency Converter
Fuel efficiency conversion is needed when comparing vehicles from different countries, evaluating fuel costs, or understanding international car specifications. Our free fuel converter supports all major fuel economy units used worldwide.
Supported Fuel Efficiency Units
MPG (US): Miles per US gallon โ the standard in the United States. MPG (UK): Miles per imperial gallon โ used in the UK. Since a UK gallon is larger, UK MPG values are about 20% higher for the same efficiency. km/L: Kilometers per liter โ common in many countries including India, Japan, and Latin America. L/100km: Liters per 100 kilometers โ the EU standard, used in Europe, Australia, and Canada. Miles/Liter and km/gal (US) round out the available units.
Important Note: Inverse Relationship
Fuel consumption (L/100km) is inversely proportional to fuel economy (km/L and MPG). A lower L/100km means better efficiency. A higher MPG or km/L means better efficiency. Formula: L/100km = 235.215 / MPG(US).
