How MSP Works

MSP is the minimum price guaranteed by the government for procurement. If market price falls below MSP, the government (through FCI, NAFED, etc.) buys at MSP to protect farmers from distress sales.

Calculation Outputs

Total income at MSP. Total income at market price. Gain/Loss vs MSP. Net profit after input cost. Visual bar chart comparison. Helps farmers decide whether to sell at market or wait for government procurement.

A2+FL Cost

MSP is set at 1.5 times the A2+FL cost (actual paid-out costs plus imputed family labour). This ensures farmers get a 50% return above production costs.
